Loons & Rocks

Additional Information

This painting is based on two different reference photos, one taken by my brother while he was doing field work near Bon Echo Provincial Park and a photo I took of loons on Lake Weslemkoon. I was inspired by each photo individually and decided they would be even better combined. I love the contrast of the dramatic rock face and the gracefully paddling loons. I was also struck by the pops of colour throughout the rockface, provided by bright orange lichens and green vegetation.
The painting is done in water-based oil paints on gallery level stretched canvas. The painting wraps around the sides of the canvas. Hanging hardware is attached directly to the canvas frame. The painting can be hung directly on a wall and does not need additional framing.
