Heading out past the lighthouse to say farewell to another perfect Pointe au Baril day, this work depicts the route so often taken with friends and family.
This piece is a part of a series that explores place through personal mapping, it is an examination of my connection to this land, my experience and history in this place. Part obsessive route planning, part dreaming of travelling the waterways of Pointe au Baril, these works sit in tension with themselves. Just as my presence in this place affects the ecosystems that make it so special, so to, the birchbark resists itself and the thread holding it together, stable yet fragile.
