Birch Sun For Wanda

Additional Information

Painted on a birch panel with gallery depth sides and is unframed. The colour and pared down shapes in this piece remind me of a great Canadian painter named, Wanda Koop. Hence the title. The setting sun is made from birch bark and like the moon, is a recurring symbol in my work. I used fire to make the underpainting and carved into the panel for the moon reflections. The five elements each play a part in creating serenity here.
