This painting is from an old orchard down the road from my place in Grimsby. Tucked under the Niagara Escarpment, in the best fruit growing soil in Canada, the Smith farm has been here over 230 years. I got up early to catch this scene of cherry trees lit up by the early morning sun, in their blaze of autumn colours. The contrast between the shadowed hills behind, and the blast of colour in the foreground was fantastic, and I could not resist painting this up for long. Unframed. Oil on canvas.
