I have studied drawing, painting, and print making at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Toronto School of Art, and LUC Sculpture in Toronto. Long interested in art, I have found much pleasure in learning to make art and enhance my skills. During the pandemic, my art practice has grown to provide a much needed space to seek personal fulfillment and express my creativity; exhibiting my work now allows me to connect and share it with the wider world. I draw inspiration from the intersection of the natural world, and the built environment (navigation markers, cottages, etc.); many of my landscape paintings feature familiar views from the Pointe au Baril area. Working primarily in acrylic paint, I attempt to paint in a post-impressionistic style, using many layers of paint to render an image that captures the feeling of the moment, while still remaining true to the beauty of the landscape.
As well, I often collaborate with my wife Mary, a glass artist, to make mixed-media pieces combining acrylic painting with stained and painted glass in a contemporary mosaic style. We hope you enjoy these unique pieces.
