Kara McIntosh is a contemporary Canadian artist whose exploration of the landscape is grounded in a curiosity around how we experience place. Through a process of immersion, observation and response, Kara's work investigates themes of connection - physical, emotional, social and cultural.
Rendered in both loose impasto and careful marks, Kara's work captures a considered essence of place. Her strong, assured brushwork presents specific sites, but encourages the viewer to engage and reflect on their own experiences. With bright and often unexpected colours peeking through the natural compositions, Kara's work offers a refreshing and engaging take on traditional landscape subject matter.
Kara lives near Nottawa, ON with her family and works full-time from her studio in The Tremont located in The Creative Simcoe Street district of Collingwood. Her works can be found in many private collections in Canada, the US, Europe and Australia.
